Improvs on the Music of Richard Rogers
"I've been playing Richard Rodgers' songs since the beginning of my career," Dick Hyman says. They're very inmportant to me. To a great extent, Rodgers' songs taught me how to play." Rodgers is the most versatile and durable of the great songwriters—his songs are still everywhere in the American air—and Hyman is the most versatile of jazz pianists; he can replicate the style of any jazz pianist or jazz band he ever heard play.
