Four-time Tony Award-winning artist Audra McDonald lights up State Theatre in her first Festival appearance. Frequently compared so such legendary performers as Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, this talented young American soprano and actress has a luscious, classically-trained voice that she puts to work as a concert and recording artist. Joined by a jazz trio, McDonald will perform an intimate evening of songs reflecting a diversity of musical styles—Randy Newman and Neil Young meet Rodgers & Hammerstein and the Gershwins. This season, she has a featured role as Dr. Naomi Bennett in the new television series Private Practice, a spin-off from Grey's Anatomy. In early 2008, she will appear in a made-for-television movie of A Raisin in the Sun.
