About this Event

Eminent pianist and consummate musician Leon Fleisher, “Dean of American Pianists,” is no stranger to the Gilmore Festival. He gave memorable concerts during the first Festival in 1990 and again in 2002. This time he comes to play for us with pianist Katherine Jacobson, his wife and director of the piano ensemble program at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. In a recent appearance together, The New York Times praised their "abundant musicality and refined technique."

This concert offers a feast for the heart and ears.

As a stringed instrument, today's piano has many early ancestors, but the earliest is the zither, which existed during the Bronze Age, around 3000 BC.
